Mosaic South Perth

Nurture. Educate. Discover.

Mosaic was founded in February 2014 on the initiative of South Perth Baptist Church who, having served the community of South Perth for over 114 years called Steve Izett to spearhead a new vision.  This new direction is evolving and includes the redevelopment of the current church facilities into the Mosaic Centre, which will include the School of Life, and the Early Learning Centre.

Steve, Janet , Rose and the rest of the team are devoted to building a community that lives out the ‘Jesus’ way, helping connect people with God, with self, with others and with opportunities to be difference makers in our world. We are excited about this next step in adding you to our Mosaic Family.

Steve Izett – Pastor and Team Leader (Mr Steve)

After 18 months of preparation, plans for the new Mosaic Centre and Community are coming together and I am so excited to be a part of this journey. The new Mosaic Centre with its School of Life and Early Learning Centre is an exciting place for individuals and families to thrive and grow.

I have a passion to see people come alive and discover the fullness of life that God intends for each of us. As the Mosaic Team Leader, I am devoted to giving my best, following in the footsteps of Jesus.

Janet Carey – Administrator (Mrs Janet)

While my main responsibilities will be overseeing the finances and administration, it is also a passion of mine to connect with people.  Making the time to share life with staff, families, and the community that comes through our doors is something I am looking forward to immensely.

Our Educators

3-6 Year Olds

Anne Abaygar- Cruz - Kinder room leader and 2IC ( Mrs Anne)

I have attained my Master’s degree in Child Development and Education at the University of Asia and the Pacific in the Philippines. I am currently registered as an Early Childhood Teacher with the TRBWA. I am on my 9th year in the industry and I am proud to be one of the pioneer educators of Mosaic ELC. :) Since then, I have been in the Kinder Room for the last 3 consecutive years. Besides being an educator, I am also tasked to be the 2IC of the centre and I continue to learn more about the management side of things. I am also a mum of a 2 yr old who is currently attending classes in our Piccolos Room.

Being the kindy teacher in Mosaic ELC, I give importance to the children’s current interests and knowledge and use these as our guide to create a program that not only extends their learning but also prepares them for school readiness. We are inspired by the Reggio Approach, where we learn through play and incorporate natural resources and recycled materials in our daily activities in the Kinder room. Nevertheless, we also give emphasis on providing activities and experiences that will develop skills for children to have an easy and successful transition to school settings. Discovering and exploring the world around us is quite exciting and interesting. I would like to encourage the children to have this kind of enthusiasm whilst in our centre.

Moreover, I am determined to provide a welcoming and safe environment for children to feel secured and cared for as well as to grow in love and respect for others. I would like to continue to educate them towards being good individuals for their families and for the community.

Aline Arruda - Qualified Educator - on parental leave until October 2019

I have been part of the Mosaic Early Learning community since the opening of the centre in 2014.

I have recently completed my Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualification.

I believe in the importance of play-based learning and how it positively contributes to the social and emotional development of children. I embrace the Reggio Emilia approach to early learning that asserts children should be respected as competent, highly complex, creative and capable people.

I am from Brazil, and after living in the US and Italy, I moved to Australia with my husband in 2012. I have a Bachelor in Law and Masters in Business, Environmental Law and Environmental Technology. I also graduated as an Environmental Educator with several qualifications. After years of working as an attorney, I realised I needed a change and further education, and so I began working with children as this was always a passion of mine. When I began my new path, I fell in love.

I love my job as a Early Childhood Educator and being a part of the children’s lives and their families lives is a privilege. Every child is unique, capable and amazing. I fell blessed to be part of the Mosaic family and to be part of Mosaic's story as an original staff member. Through the years, I've seen the centre growing with the children and our beautiful families. I've seen children starting as babies and leaving Mosaic as confident children ready to school. My family has also been growing with Mosaic: you can find Amanda in Piccolos room doing painting or running outside and next year, my son, DanieI will be in Bambini room. Mosaic is my family, I love working here and though the years I've connected to staff and families, making very close friends. I see Mosaic as an extension of my own family.

I strongly believe that education can change the world and the Reggio approach is an amazing philosophy to educate children to be better people for life. I love studying and after falling in love with Reggio, I have been learning more about this inspiring approach taking few PD's and recently visiting Reggio Emilia in Italy. I am finishing another qualification as an Education Assistant in Early Childhood and I keep thinking what I will study next. As an early childhood educator I love to connect with the staff, the children and families, as well as being able to educate them and to also to learn and grow as a human being while sharing every day with them.
